Siritunga in a Car Accident

By M.K Priyarathna
USP Councillor in Ehaliyagoda

Siritunga and some of USP members met with a serious car accident on January 14, 2010 in Thanamalvila.

The campaign tour to the East was almost called off when the Van in which Siritunga and party leaders were travelling met with an unfortunate but strange accident in the middle of the Jungle near the Thanmalvila police limits. A four foot wild boar hit the speeding van in the middle on the right side totally damaging the chassis, both comrade Janaka and the female comrade Dhammika were rudely shocked by the sudden impact that almost toppled the moving van. Though no body was seriously injured, but it was the presence of mind and the excellent driving skills of Janaka that saved the lives of all.

With this initial hiccup that rattled the campaigners but the nevertheless the campaign was continued leaving the Van for immediate repairs after being hand pushed for nearly two kilometres. Some comrades continued the journey by the public transport for leafleting.
